Breakneck speed

Here’s ground being broken (and strewn about, needless to add) for the Ulsoor station to be build. In my mind’s eye, I can recollect the police quarters, the temple and the fabrication unit that occupied this space and have had to make way completely for this edifice to be built.

Doomed to memory

If ever proof was needed of people & livelihoods obliterated by Namma Metro’s relentless march, this is it. Just a couple of months ago, on this stretch, you would have seen flower and pooja article sellers busy ekeing out a living, as they had been doing since ages. Iron pillars, debris, noise is what you will encounter today.

Moving on, note the Ulsoor station foundation pillars in the background. More on that in the next pic.

A bucolic scene

Gives you a very rural scene impression (with the pillars being the giveaway), doesn’t it? Well, sorry to inform you that this is the end of CMH Road as the route turns left proceeding towards the proposed Ulsoor station. Is it any wonder that those opposing Namma Metro get agitated seeing this obliteration of once familiar landmarks? C’est la vie, baby….this is India!

Tall Boys

These 4 pillars are perhaps amongst the tallest built along the proposed routes of Namma Metro. The reason is to compensate for the downward slope of the road as it proceeds towards Lakshmipuram and then flattens out as it turns into Ulsoor.

Tomorrow, we proceed further down the road where work has been halted, perhaps due to pending litigation or whatever. I have a picture of the proposed Ulsoor Station for you. Keep checking back. Thanks for your interest!

Asking for trouble.

This is just the kind of dare-devilry that ought to be avoided. You can see the ladder to the right of the pillar. And yet, the two workmen appear to be taking the easy / risky option by getting a lift from a crane. Further, this pillar is one of the tallest ( see my next post coming up!) that I’ve ever seen on any stretch. One slip would have meant certain doom below.

CMH Road entrance

This photo is taken from the spot where the tracks would turn right to enter CMH Road from 100 ft Road. Image quality is poor. Blustery weather conditions, poor lighting, swirling dust and passing traffic made it difficult to get a good shot apart from lack of a vantage position.
